Based on sampling conducted by both the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Johnson County Environmental Department, the Johnson County Health Department has lifted a health advisory for Little Mill Creek that has been in place since November 7, 2001. The health advisory was established following a discharge of untreated wastewater into the creek after a sewer line break was discovered.
Johnson County Wastewater has repaired the line break at Greenwood and Hallet in the City of Lenexa. The Johnson County Environmental Department has tested the creek daily since November 7th a half-mile north of the sewer line break. The latest test shows that the levels in the creek are safe. These test results were confirmed by separate sampling conducted by KDHE.
Residents may call JCW or KDHE if they have any Question or concerns. Call 913-432-3820 to speak with a JCW representative or KDHE at 785-842-4600.
