Project Background and Objectives

The Lake Quivira Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation project is located in the City of Lake Quivira, Kansas. Existing sanitary sewers are located throughout the Lake Quivira community to provide sanitary service for residents. Because many of these sewer segments are approaching the end of their useful lives and/or do not meet current design standards to maintain and improve the level of service to the community, JCW is repairing and upgrading many of the sewers throughout the community.

JCW performed an extensive sanitary sewer evaluation study beginning in 2005. This study identified sewer system defects and provided recommendations for a rehabilitation project. These recommendations were then incoporated into construction plans that include the rehabilitation and replacement of approximately 22,000 feet of sanitary sewer. The construction project was awarded to a contractor in April 2011.

Ninety-nine properties will be directly affected by this project. These property owners have been contacted by mail (09/07/10) with a letter and exhibit detailing the work to be performed on their property.

Quick Facts

This project will consist of approximately:
> 9,000 feet of 8" diameter sewer rehabilitation
> 13,000 feet of 8", 10", and 12" diameter sewer replacement
> Rehabilitation of 84 manholes
