RESCINDING OF HEALTH ADVISORY

In collaboration with Johnson County Wastewater and Johnson County Environmental Departments, Johnson County Health Department has lifted a health advisory to residents living near the Dykes Branch originally issued due to the release of wastewater into that tributary.

The sanitary sewer line is in the general vicinity of Lee Blvd and 86th Terrance, in the City of Leawood.

The Johnson County Health Department issued the first advisory on May 31st 2006, to radio; TV stations and newspapers for residents living near the stream. Recent test results have confirmed that this stream is no longer affected by the release of sewage, which occurred on May 31, 2006.

However, residents should be aware that there may be areas with elevated bacterial counts caused by natural sources such as rain, wildlife, pets and urban run off, and should continue to use caution and practice good hygiene practices when coming in contact with any urban streams.
