Jimmie Hunsucker is 2010 4th Quarter STARS recipient

Jimmie Hunsucker, engineer specialist, learned he is the 2010 4th quarter STARS recipient during a staff meeting Wednesday morning,

Beth Brandel, director of Business Operations and Planning, nominated him for suggesting that JCW explore the option of paying the Mission City storm water fees similar to how JCW pays KCMO charges. The Mission City fees tripled from 2009, causing a very significant impact to JCW’s operating budget.

Jimmie provided significant background research and assisted Beth to help conclude that paying 95 percent of the Mission City storm water fees from capital would be appropriate.

“This creative solution by Jimmie and his willingness to ensure it was addressed ‘saved’ approximately $44,000 from the operating budget, which will potentially help JCW maintain its outstanding levels of service during our budget crisis,” Beth said.

She noted that Jimmie’s suggestion and actions demonstrate the core value of Creativity by determining a new way to approach a problem, and the core values of Service by allowing a significant dollar amount to be available for providing service in JCW’s operating budget.
