With Residents in Johnson County
JCW believes that the most effective form of wastewater treatment results from a partnership between those we serve and ourselves. This partnership is based on communication between the two. One method of communication is the participation by our customers at public hearings or informational meetings held by the Board of County Commissioners. Another method is are plant tours available by appointment. To find out more information about JCW, wastewater treatment in our community or to schedule a plant tour, please call the Public Information Section at 913-715-8572.
Updates on Construction Projects
Blue River #14, Contract District #1 is proposed to serve approximately 80 acres at the southeast corner of 159th and Metcalf by gravity sewers. While the proposed line will be large enough to provide service to the contract district and the area southeast of that area, there are no plans to provide service to the existing homes at this time. Should existing homeowners desire sanitary sewer service, they should contact Gordon Rames at the number below for more information. Fewer than 20 homes could be directly served by the proposed sewer alignment. For more info >>>
Suwanee Road Sewer Rehabilitation and Relocation project is located in Fairway, Kansas; south of Shawnee Mission Parkway, east of Mission Road, and west of State Park Road. An existing sanitary sewer crosses through the backyards of residences on the east side of Suwanee Road (from 5647 Suwanee Road to 5535 Suwanee Road). This sewer was installed in the 1940's and consists of eight-inch diameter vitrified clay pipe. This pipe is necessary to provide sanitary sewer service to these houses as well as areas upstream. The existing sanitary sewer is in need of repair and access for maintenance is difficult. As a result, the sewer needed to be addressed in order to maintain continuous wastewater service and prevent future sewer backups or overflows from occurring. For more info >>>
