_Suwanee Road Sewer Rehabilitation and Relocation
_MTM1 Contract No. 63

Updated 8/12/2009

Project Background and Objectives

The Suwanee Road Sewer Rehabilitation and Relocation project is located in Fairway, Kansas; south of Shawnee Mission Parkway, east of Mission Road, and west of State Park Road. An existing sanitary sewer crosses through the backyards of residences on the east side of Suwanee Road (from 5647 Suwanee Road to 5535 Suwanee Road). This sewer was installed in the 1940's and consists of eight-inch diameter vitrified clay pipe. This pipe is necessary to provide sanitary sewer service to these houses as well as areas upstream. The existing sanitary sewer is in need of repair and access for maintenance is difficult. As a result, the sewer needed to be addressed in order to maintain continuous wastewater service and prevent future sewer backups or overflows from occurring.
